Container Home Book 161 Parallel Offset with Atrium Home – Trat Province Thailand

Today’s featured Shipping Container Home was built by Owners – Perry & Katae in the Province of Trat, in South East Thailand.

This shipping container home was inspired by ‘Container of Hope’ but has been extended in all directions using 3 x 40’ and 1 x 20’ containers. An additional 20’ container was also used for storage during construction and is now as a man-cave separate to the main dwelling.

The project was created as a family home and consists of 1 bedroom, 1 on-suite bathroom, 1 WC, kitchen, office and large living / dining area, It also boast 2 decks and a roof terrace.

The containers were purchased and cut at Maha Containers in Bangkok and transported to the site where the majority of construction was carried out. Additional walls were built, walls and ceilings were insulated, floors laid, and windows and doors fitted.

  1. This is pretty amazing unit. I am wondering how you keep this home cool??

  2. The home is fully insulated Jennifer..

If you look at the construction photos you will see Worker applying the Closed Cell Spray Foam Insulation..

  3. Hi Jennifer,

The atrium is open on both sides and all windows and doors have mosquito nets. We get great airflow through the house.

We also have aircon in the office and bedroom, but rarely use them preferring to use the natural air flow.

As was mentioned before, all walls and ceilings have a covering of spray-on insulation material.
